Process Challenge Device and Self Adhesive Indicator Strips for Process Monitoring
gke have developed a Process Challenge Device (PCD) in accordance with Standard EN 1422:2009 to monitor the penetration of ethylene oxide gas in each batch to be sterilised. The chemical indicator strip is placed inside the PCD, and the PCD placed inside the steriliser with the load to be sterilised.

Type 4 Package Monitoring Indicators
The chemical indicators according to EN ISO 11140-1 Type 4 are placed into packages or containers to monitor the relevant variables of ethylene oxide sterilisation processes. Type 4 package monitoring indicators provide sterility information at the point of placement inside the chamber. Therefore, when sterilising hollow instruments, use of a Process Challenge Device is also recommended to provide information about the sterilant penetration into hollow devices.
